[A few minutes after the main log left off, the group has split up. Clinton, pink sweatshirt and all, is still walking alongside Mariah, though he doesn't have her arm around Mariah anymore. * Mariah is walking down the hallway, looking for the door to Tecumseh 101. "I know it's around here somewhere..." What's around here? Tecumseh 101... I'm sorry, I just need to check on something. * Clinton points up ahead. "I think that's right up there." * Mariah looks that way. * Three or four hallways down, there looks like a statue that might be some sort of native american. * Mariah heads towards it, then. * The statue is, indeed, one of Tecumseh, and he points the way into the hall named for him. Who's down here? * Mariah smiles and heads down that hall. "... a team we fought earlier. It's just that there was something weird in our fight... Yeah? * The door to Tecumseh 101 is closed right now, though only trying it will tell if it's locked. * Mariah knocks at the door. "It's just that... this guy we fought today used all of the attacks of somebody from this team. I'm not sure if he stole them or if something really weird's going on." What, like used them exactly? ... well, like he had new names for them, but they were the other guy's attacks. He fought *just like* the other guy. * The door opens, revealing a slightly bruised and entirely unfriendly Benita Haselden, the captain of Tecumseh 101. ...what do you want? -- oh! Uh, hi... sorry to intrude, but, uh... Spit it out. ... I just... well, uh, is Ken okay? Why wouldn't he be? Did you do something to him? -- Look, one of my teammates just fought a guy from another team who used *all* of Ken's attacks! Some stuff's happened to our team that made me worry, okay? ...oh. All of them? That's a lot of attacks. Well, everything he used. He fought just like Ken, too -- which was weird, because he's Dark-aligned, and he didn't do any of it before... I think you're probably over-reacting. Ken's fine. He's out practicing throwing the mountain right now, as far as I know. * Mariah nods, smiling nervously. "I *hope* I am. I just... wanted to make sure, you know? And figured Ken'd want to know, anyway." Bah. I bet Ken's stolen at least one attack from somebody else. He stole the "pick up the ring and throw it" bit, you know. That's way too popular. I had a guy throw an entire flagstone at me this morning. A five foot cube of granite does a lot of damage. I know how that is. What is it with breaking the ring? People seem to carve it up like a thanksgiving turkey. Well, it *does* hurt a lot... and it scares people. It's kinda freaky, you know? Damn right it's freaky. Freakishly strong. So, yeah, I can understand why Max'd steal it... Did you know there's a team out there with TWO guys who both have these freakish spiked baseball bats, and they BOTH throw the damn ring at you? * Mariah blanches. "... two guys with spiked baseball bats, on one team? ... wow. That's *weird* luck." They're nuts. Anyway, I have homework. Our geometry professor is a real taskmaster. * Mariah nods. "Yeah... thanks. Sorry to bother you..." Um... thanks for thinking of us, anyway. I'm glad everything's okay... Yeah, well, I don't think anything could take Ken out now. The guy went nuts training after you beat him. * Mariah grins. "Good for him. Hope to see him again..." You'll see us again. There are only so many freshman teams. Seeya. * Mariah nods and waves as she closes the door and begins walking away. "... man." What's wrong? Nothing, I guess, but... there's still something that feels really *weird* about this to me. About what? Stealing techniques? Well... there's been a lot of weird stuff happening to my team lately, and stealing techniques... I dunno, it seems kinda sinister. * Clinton laughs. "Sinister? How do you figure?" * Mariah looks dead serious. "Well, the guy who did it was... *really* a dangerous guy, kind of a creepy guy, you know? And I guess I assumed the worst when I saw how much of Ken's style he stole..." How many moves did he steal? There were two that I saw, but they were, like, exactly the same. And he just had the whole style, and it wasn't like how he fought before... Well, people changing the way they fight isn't unheard of. Especially for rematches. * Mariah nods. "Yeah, true. It just came out of left field... I expect that was the idea. Yeah, I guess so. ... eh, guess I got worried for nothing.. Maybe. Maybe not. * Mariah shrugs. "We'll see, I guess. I *hope* it's nothing."
