[Last Time, on Battle High: Not a whole lot happened in the early morning before classes. Isaac beat down Ao-Lang, Mariah and Karasu hung out in the cafeteria for breakfast. Ao-Lang got mail from her family, and Mariah got an interesting flyer for some spirit detectives.] [Classes have just let out, which means it's about noon, and our heroes can hear the doors of the cafeteria bang open as they step out onto the ground floor.] [Session... START!] * Ao-Lang walks away from class, because class is over, and towards the cafeteria, because she's hungry. * Isaac frowns and look at where his stomach is with a hungry look, and so walks away from class to the cafeteria, because food is good. * People stream out of the several stairwells down from the class tower and head, almost as one herd, for the cafeteria. * Karasu follows the drones towards the cafeteria. * The cafeteria appears to be serving slightly overdone porkchops, instant mashed potatoes, brown pork gravy, and perfectly baked dinner rolls for lunch. * Mariah makes with the walking-towards-lunch. Hey, dinner rolls are good, right? * Ao-Lang gets in line! Whoo. She looks around the cafeteria from where she stands. * Isaac gets in line too! * The line is moving quickly this afternoon, and by the time Ao and Isaac make it to the food, there's only one dinner roll left. ther'es plenty of pork chops and taters and spiced animal fat, though. * Isaac takes whatever looks healthy. * Ao-Lang snatches the last dinner roll and gets some pork chops and potatoes. She drizzles just a little gravy on it. * Mariah 's meal choices tend to be extremely potato-focused. * Karasu chooses whatever's cool. * Ao-Lang gets out of the line and then stands in some out of the way place, scanning the cafeteria for people she recognizes. * Ao-Lang recognizes over half the people there, as a matter of fact. And that's just the people she can name, having either heard of them in whispered legends, beaten them into the ground with her own two fists, or been similarly beaten into the ground by THEIR fists. * Ao-Lang heads over to Ryo's table, then, and if there's an open seat by or across from him, takes it. * Karasu finds a dark corner to angst in. * Boy does Karasu angst. The sheer power of his angst creates an empty, dark corner WHEREVER HE WALKS. * Mariah scans for a particularly decent-looking table, assuming everyone's splitting up, which seems a safe bet. * Most tables are claimed by discrete groups, but there are still a few unoccupied tables, out in the center where your back is to half the room. * Isaac takes a seat at one of these empty-ish tables and starts eating/reading simultaneously. * Alexander 102 has a table near their edge of the cafeteria, while Musashi 102 is in one corner between the main entrance and Alexander. * Mariah looks ambivalent; she starts wandering towards the table Isaac's claimed, but she doesn't look totally convinced. * Musashi 103 is a couple tables away from the one Isaac claimed, as well. * Karasu has a nice angsty table in the corner, should Mariah change her mind. * The room now has 5 corners, thanks to Karasu. The peps are NOT amused. * Karasu glances from side to side as he eats. Not that you can tell. Shades. XD * Mariah veers shadowward, apparently deciding Isaac doesn't want to be disturbed, and goes to sit at Karasu's table. * Isaac waves to Mariah and smiles. ^^ * Isaac goes back to reading and eating. * Mariah sets her tray down and then decides to wander back Isaacward. A little indecisive, are we? "Hey. What are you reading?" * Karasu eats alone then. Fine, whatever. He didn't want company anyhow ~How to preserve severed heads in formaldehyde after they've been cleanly severed from their respective bodies...~ ... huh. Why severed heads? * Isaac mentally giggles. ~Just kidding. I'm reading on today's lecture topic.~ ^^ * Karasu eats rather hurriedly. * Today's topic was "Condoms" Oh! Neat. I really need to get caught up on my reading, myself. * Also, finding the area and composing angles of polyhedrons. * Karasu tilts his head, his gaze fixating on something. * Mariah glances back at Karasu and her tray. "I'd say you should come sit with us, but it's kinda dark." ~Huh? Well, I guess so.~ * Karasu doesn't hear Mariah. She's in the center of the room with Isaac, and he's in the corner. * A new light pops on overhead, illuminating Karasu's dark corner. * On top of the new light fixture, a black-clothed pep strikes a pose of triumph, then vanishes. * Karasu is rather disappointed. Not that his face shows it .. hey, light! So, you want to? Or we could come over here, I guess. * Isaac snaps his book closed and gets up, taking his tray and book with him. ~Okay, okay.~ Cool. * Mariah walks back tableward. "Sorry, didn't mean to bug you, but center tables sort of make me nervous." ~Why?~ I guess I just feel watched. * Just as Mariah and Isaac approach the table, the new light overhead flickers, dims, and then dies. It's weird. * Karasu glances up. ~Uh-huh.~ * Mariah sits down. "... did I mention this place weirds me out sometimes?" * Karasu eats. "So much hate..." * Mariah starts in on her mashed potatoes. Mmmm, potatoey. * They're very salty. Luckily, there's no artificial butter flavor. ~What weirds you about it?~ A lot of little things. I guess I'm still getting used to it. * Two days worth of homework means about fifty geometry problems, to start with. Plus twenty pages worth of Health. ... I really should hit the library. *So* much geometry to do... ~Geometry isn't that bad.~ It's kinda tricky, but I guess I'm not really a math person. ~It's all proving what you already know!~ Math will eat your soul. ~I'm more worried of you eating my soul.~ I *guess* that's true, but.. * Karasu gets up and walks off, throwing his food away as he goes. * Mariah gives up her battle with the potatoes and stands up. "Anyway, is it okay if I ask you if I get stuck?"\ ~Not at all, I don't mind. I'm going to be taking a look at what else they have here other than paurties, school, and fighting though...~ Cool. Let me know if you find anything neat? I'll be in the library. You know, working. * Isaac nods. ~If you need me, you'll know where to find me. ^^~ * Isaac finishes his meal and walks off, taking a look around. * Mariah wanders off... with DESTINY. * Isaac heads off to the library to get a map! * It doesn't take long to find the library, now that Iccas's been there once before, and it's still pretty much empty, given that it's lunch hour. Just as he enters, he sees Mariah enter a room along the edge of the library. * Isaac goes looking through the articles and books to get, gasp, a map of the castle and what he should expect to find here. Zomg. * Back in the map section, in the corner where was found the map of the dungeon basement, there turn out to be maps of the entire castle. Detailed ones. * Isaac hmms, and figures to test how detailed these maps are, and looks for where computer labs with internet connections are, where a forge is, where to likely find people who play chess or go, and otherwise interesting places to visit. * The only computer lab, per se, is in the library, but there are wiring diagrams that indicate that ethernet has been nearly run to each and every suite of rooms, and awaits only the work of the peps to run the last few meters on demand. * There's a small forge in a shed outside the main castle, in one of the corners away from the main gate, and a larger forge on sub-basement 3. Where it vents to is hard to follow. * There's a small room in the Class Tower labeled as the gaming club office, but it's labeled (defunct). * Isaac hmms... ~Need to get a computer sometime...~ * Isaac nods to himself and notes where that forge is outside, and heads out of the library torwards it. Glancing at the corner Mariah's in he mentally sends a signal, ~See you later.~ ^^ * The signal bounces off Mariah's mind, so totally buried in her current book is she. (This is, uh, not a standard response to math for Mariah.) * The brown paper wrapper on the book is labeled "Advanced Algebra" * Isaac blinks and walks over to the person who's probably not Mariah like the clueless little sucker he is. * Whoever it is, she's got all Mariah's books, and her backpack, too. UP close, it still looks like Mariah. * She turns a page. * Isaac pokes her, hand-signalling. * Mariah doesn't look up from the book. * Isaac scratches his head. * She turns a page. * Isaac shrugs and goes about his business. * Up the stairs back onto the main floor, people are still trickling out of the cafeteria. * Isaac heads outside to the forge! Well, the outside one. * The forge, or where the forge should be, is a relatively large shack (compared to Isaac) with a pair of dutch barn doors. It looks like it doesn't get used much. * Isaac knocks on the doors, trying to peek inside of the barn. * The doors move a little under the knock, but nobody answers. * the doors do not, however, appear to be locked. * Brett has left IRC * Isaac glances around and tries opening the doors. * Brett is on IRC * The doors open onto a small forge with all the important bits on one end, and a lot of paper taped on the opposite wall, detailing fighter standings and pairings. * Isaac glances over at the standings and pairings, trying to figure out what year they were for. * They're current, and he can see Ao-Lang's name, recently added, right at the bottom above one guy. [Session... end!]
