[Having done a little light shopping for new clothes after a good night at an excellent hotel, the group promptly split up to gather clues. This particular group is headed to the docks, since that seems a likely departure point.] [Session Start] * Daphne walks into the docks area and glances around for the obvious things, first. Building and ships and such. One would hope that she'd notice a ship large enough to carry the Tower, or a reinforced pier that might look strong enough to support it's weight. * Rocky rides on Daphne's shoulder. He peers at the piers. So, Rocko. If you were a criminal mastermind who liked stealing things that were impossibly hard to steal discreetly, how'd you do it? * The most important building is the Dockmaster's office, that keeps track of all departures and arrivals. There are plenty of warehouses, and lots of docks. There are also a fair number of ships in port, only a few docks are empty. * Rocky rubs his chin with a paw. "Hmmm...." * Daphne heads to the Dockmaster's office on the off chance that Ms. Sandiego would haul her loot off on a legitimate ship. I'd use mirrors, like a magician! * Secretary looks up as a woman enters the office with a raccoon on her shoulder. Heh. Hmmm. May be somethin' to that, actually. Ah... can I help you? I don't think pets are allowed in here... * Daphne looks at the Secretary. "I certainly hope so." I don't suppose I could see a listing of ships that have come in and out of port in the last... say, four days? By what authority, miss? * Daphne holds up the shiny police badge she was given yesterday. "By this authority." * Secretary blinks. Er... as you say, Sir. Damn straight. * Secretary types a few queries quickly into her keyboard and something starts printing out across the room. You can get it off the printer right over there. Alright. Does the list include the types and capacities of the ships, by any chance? * Rocky peers at the office. Type, capacity, cargo, displacement, everything you should need. Great. * Daphne takes a look at the list as it gets doen printing. I hope you figure out how she did this. None of the vessels that left yesterday were capable of holding Tokyo Tower. * Daphne sighs, then "Thanks. I hope I figure it out, too." Do you know if any have come *in* that were capable of holding it? Or at least supporting it's weight? There aren't any, really. I mean... it would take a military class battleship to hold it. Or an aircraft carrier. Unless you dismantled it, anyway. And if you dismantled it? If you dismantled it, it'd only take a large cargo ship. There was one that left yesterday. It should be on that sheet. * Daphne looks it up on the sheet. "Thanks. Lesse 'ere..." * Rocky twitches his ears and blinks. * There are six wessels listed. * Daphne looks for the one with the largest capacity and displacement, since that'd prolly be the one. * Rocky scrutinizes the list. * The largest wessel listed left last night at 0100h local time, bound for australia. The next largest listed left last night at 1900h, bound for Chile. * Daphne nods to herself. I suppose these ships had their own crews loading and offloading? Or is there someone around here I could talk to who was involved with that? Ah, the people involved had their own loaders, unfortunately. We're not connected with that, aside from noting what they're transporting. * Rocky says nothing, because.... yeah :P Ah ha. * Rocky pokes Daphne. * Daphne looks at Rocky. "Hm?" * Rocky holds up a paw. He lifts one finger, then two, then three. Then he shrugs. After that, he points at the secratary with his snout. * Daphne idly glances at the sheet to see what the two largest ships were listed as carrying. * The ship bound for australia was listed as carrying a shipment of Nintendo products. The ship bound for Chile was listed as carrying a boatload of grain. * Daphne frowns. * Daphne also checks the list to see if the size of the loading crews for the two ships are listed. * Daphne heads out the door while she's at it, saying "Thank you for your help. I might be back later on if we think of anything else." Thank you. Glad I could help. Have a nice day. ^_^ You too. * Daphne gets outside and says "Got a hunch it's the one headed for Chile. What do you think, Rocko?" Hmm... Wanna hear my reasons? Yeah. The biggest one is the bit about the grain. I'm not sure if grain would even last long enough for a ship to cross the Pacific, but either way, Japan has a lot more people than it does farmable land, so I figure it'd be importing grain, not exporting. There's also the fact that Chile's flag is red, white and blue. Although I suppose Australia's could be too and I just wouldn't know it. Maybe where you come from. But things are different here. And Australia's is, I think. * Daphne frowns. * Daphne heads back in and looks for a map that shows an area around Japan large enough to see what it's size is compared to it's neighbors. * Japan is just like it was in your homeworld. A few islands. * Daphne heads back out, nodding to the secretary on the way. * Secretary smiles happily. * Daphne waits until the door's closed behind her and says "Nope, Japan's the same here as back home." (Unless it controlls all of mainland Asia, or something.) * Daphne frowns. "Actually, nevermind." Just noticed that the grain ship was just making a pitstop here, which kills that theory nicely. Are you sure? Maybe it's pitstop was to pick up the tower. Heh. I suppose, but doubt it. Hmmm. You say Aurstralia has a red-white-blue flag? It does where Shiho comes from. More blue than red and white, though. Heh. Hm. Alright, then we'll assume it's on it's way to Australia disguised as a boatload of game stuff. Ok. Now what do we do? I guess we check with the others. You have some funky mind-meld thing going with Shiho, right? Yeah, but we're out of range. Alright. Alright. Lemme know when you get in range, 'k? * Daphne heads back towards the Former Tower Square. Ok, but it's got a mile limit. [Session End]
