[Having done a little light shopping for new clothes after a good night at an excellent hotel, the group promptly split up to gather clues. This particular group is investigating a bookstore and a bank, to see if Carmen Sandiego left any traces there.] [Session Start] * Cara lets out a happy sigh. "Ah...it's nice to have normal clothes again." ^_^ * Shiho yawns and rolls her shoulders. Her new clothes are simple: blue jeans and a blue, sleevless shirt. "Yeah. Beats wearing my outfit for months. Do you want to go to the bank first, or the bookstore? How about the bank? * Shiho nods and goes that way. * Cara is now wearing denim shorts, a white t-shirt and a purple jacket. She follows after Shiho. * The bank is OPEN. * A greeter nods politely as you open the doors and walk in. "Welcome to Tokyo Square Bank." * Shiho goes in, then. * Cara walks on in. "Hi, thanks." ^_^ * Shiho politely greets the man. * Cara looks around. * Shiho goes up to the counter and looks for a cashier, or somebody. Can I help you, miss? * Cara continues to look around the bank, trying to spot anything unusual. * Shiho nods and shows her the badge she got yesterday. "I'm with the police. I'd like to see a list of transactions from the past three days." ...of ALL the transactions? * Shiho considers. "Involving currency exchange." ...that's still a rather large number. ^_^; * Shiho folds her arms and thinks. Just for yesterday, then. * Cara continues to search around. Ah... I don't suppose you can narrow it down a little more? That's almost a hundred pages of small text. * Shiho blinks. "There were that many currency exchanges in a single day? Well, the airport isn't too far from here, we're the closest bank. People who are leaving often change money. What exactly are you looking for? Any particular currency? An amount? * Cara frowns and keeps poking around. A general time of day? Hmm.... Numbers greater than the cost of the cheapest plane ticket. Okay... Keep going. After curfew would be the best bet, but there's no reason it wouldn't be before then. Well, there are no transactions after curfew. * Shiho sighs, "Well, for the day in general, how many is that?" About fifty pages. If you limit it to the evening, it goes down to ten pages or so. * Shiho rubs her forehead. Ok, only count the transactions made by females, then. Do you want to limit it by people who have accounts registered, then? They don't need an account for a transaction? Not for a simple change of money. * Shiho sighs. "Then this is porbably all in vain, but just to be sure: Yes, limit it by people who have accounts. * Teller does so, fingers flying across the keyboard. Sorry, there weren't any such transactions by females who have accounts. What are you looking for, anyway? Somebody who might have fled the country. Any idea where? If you know the currency they need, that'd help. * Cara mumbles to herself and keeps searching. * Shiho thinks. "Countries with red, white, and blue for their flag colors." Erm... help me out here, I'm not much for country flags. Alright... Let's see... that's Dollars, Pounds, Francs, and Yen... limit by those... * Shiho keeps thinking. Panama... Hmm... there are plenty of transactions for Dollars and Pounds, about sixty and forty, respectively... twenty three for Francs, and... two for Yen. I'm sorry. One transaction for Yen. Wait, which one is for Yen? Australia. Alright... Which one was that? * Teller points to something on her screen. One transaction in two parts. Dollars, our currency here and in the United States, and the second part from Rubles to Yen. Two parts? That's a little odd. Refresh my memory, which country uses rubles? Someone likely flew in from the USSR, changed some to Dollars, then changed all the rubles and leftover dollars to yen. I see. * Shiho nods. "I think that will be helpful. Thank you." No problem, miss. ^_^ * Cara grumbles as she looks. * Shiho looks over to Cara. "Hey, are you ready to go?" * Cara sighs. "I guess so. I couldn't find anything." Maybe we'll ave better luck at the bookstore. * Cara nods. I hope so. You get anything from the teller? Yeah. I'm not sure it's enough to go on just yet, though, but we have a lead. * Shiho heads for the bookstore. * Cara follows Shiho. * The bookstore is OPEN. It's somewhat busy, not crowded, though. There's a coffee shop in there, and in addition to a number of books, there's a small display of plushies. * Shiho takes a look around. * There are two clerks working the counter. * Shiho approaches them. Shiho, I'll look around for anything out of the ordinary. * Shiho nods. * Cara begins poking around. * Cara finds COFFEE! * Cara approaches the counter of the coffeeshop. * Shiho shows the badge to the clerks at the counter and repeats the spiel. "I'd like to see a list of the books you've sold yesterday." Er... sure, I suppose. It's kind of a long list, though. We sold about two hundred books yesterday. * Shiho sighs. People sure like to spend money in this country. Take out the kiddie books and the "unsophisticated" stuff. Mmmhmm. * Clerk taps a few keys. That doesn't narrow it down much. * Cara looks for a cashier or something in the coffeeshop. * Shiho sighs. "I'm not really surprised. Okay, limit it to books sold in the final hour before curfew. * CoffeeClerk looks up bored at Cara. "Can I help you?" Okay. That narrows it to about ten books. Nine, actually. You only want books, right? * Cara pulls out her badge and displays it to the clerk, smiling bright. "Hi! Any weird people come in here in the last few days?" * Shiho considers. "Maybe not. Informative magazines, or periodicals, too." Lots of wierd people. Mmm, nope. Just the nine books, then. Unless you find a Koala plushie interesting. Oh? Any strange women? * CoffeeClerk shrugs. Plenty. Well, I'm looking for a specific strange woman. Wears a wide brimmed hat and a long trenchcoat. Yeah, saw a lady like that. Yeah? Did she say anything? Not really. She just got a super-large mint mocha and left. She got something at the bookstore, though. I didn't see what. * Cara nods. "Okay, thanks." ^_^ * Cara goes to find Shiho. Anyway, there were the nine sales, two three people. One guy bought seven generic fantasy books, on special order. One guy bought... let's see... The Joy of Cooking. Hi Shiho. She was here. Or, someone a lot like her. ^^; Are you sure? And one guy bought... ah, the koala plushie and "Animals of the Outback." Well, the clerk at the coffeshop said a strange woman in a widebrimmed hat and a long trenchcoat bought a super-large mint mocha and left. And she had something that she bought from the store. * Shiho nods to the clerk.. "I see. Thank you." No prob. * Shiho heads for the door, motioning for Cara to follow. * Cara follows Shiho. * Shiho says when they're outside. "Well, that settles it. Looks like we're going to Australia." Yeah? * Shiho nods. Let's find the others. Okay! [Session End]
