[Cara's Search For Training Start] * Everybody split up to go find training or various other things... * Cara sets out to find Hogwarts. * Hogwart's is easy to find, especially with all the magic flying out of its ceiling at random times. * There are two main entrances, one a set of immense gates that are currently closed, and one a small door marked 'open' * Cara goes and opens the small door, peeking her head inside. * Clerk sits behind a desk working on paperwork. Can I help you? * Clerk peers up at Cara through thick glasses. Um, hello. I was looking for some information. Information is valuable. What kind of information are you looking for? Well, I heard there might be a guest lecturer on Sorcery here. Is that true? We occasionally have guest lecturers on the subject, yes. This is not the case at this time, however. Would you like to enroll in one of our other classes? * Cara sweatdrops. "Well, I don't actually know anything about Wizard-type magic...I only know sorcery." Do you have, like, beginners classes? You're a sorceror, do you say? Yes. Mmmhmmm... * Clerk searches through the paperwork on his desk. Yes, yes, here it is. We can't teach you wizardry, unfortunately. the two are incompatible. * Cara nods. But you could make some good money, if you want, working as a guest lecturer and letting some of the faculty do some tests on you.= Tests? What kind of tests? * Cara shuffles her feer. "And I'm not very experienced, I don't think you'd want me as a guest lecturer." Well, the tests would mostly be determining how you use your magic, and how it interacts with Wizardry. AS for the guest lecturing... hum. I suppose if you're not very experienced, you'll be paid less, but we have so few sorcerors to examine and learn from... Well, I guess I could... Excellent! * Clerk shuffles around some paper and pulls out a couple of forms. * Clerk hands the forms to Cara. Just sign here, here, here, and here, and you'll be all set. * Cara takes the forms and begins signing them. "Okay!" Twenty gold for a three month lecture series and one week of testing. ...th-three months of lectures? * Cara drops the quill/pen/whatever. * Cara starts backing up. I...I...uh... Is there something wrong? * Cara is nervously reducing the forms to tatters. H-hey! What are you doing! Those forms are expensive! S-sorry! * Cara drops the shredded papers and flees. * Cara leans against a wall, panting, once she gets outside. "Lecturing...for three months...I've only been DOING this for three months! Scary..." There's gotta be something else I can do... * Cara heads back to the area where the inns were. * Along the way, Cara spots a shop selling small art prints. Oooh. * Cara peeks inside. * There are a number of drawings of all types, ranging in subject from common household chores to great battles. Strangely, the prints behind the counter, which appear the best, are all signed by the same artist. Welcome! Hi! Wow, these are so nice... You like them? * Cara looks at the ones behind the counter and nods. "Yes!" * The prints behind the counter appear to be mostly focused on battle. Who did these? Ah... I did. * Clerk blushes a little. * Cara looks at the Clerk. "Wow, cool! They're really neat!" Mostly I draw my father's old adventuring stories... Your father was an adventurer? Ah, yeah. Some of my friends and I just started adventuring recently, to find a way home...we're not very good at it yet. ^^;; What sort of adventurer was your father? Was he a warrior? Really? I bet you've got some great stories. Not very many... Could you stay and tell me? Uh, I guess I could. * Alan goes into the back of the shop and comes out with a small easel and some charcoal pencils. So, what brought you to my shop? Well, I draw too, so I thought I'd look inside. And I learned some magic from someone who painted... You can do magic? How good are you? A little, yeah. She taught me how to do magic with drawings. Do magic with drawings? that's amazing! I dunnot how good I am...I haven't met many magic users to compare myself to. ^_^; Could you show me? Uh, sure! * Cara looks around for something that would be good to demonstrate on. Hm... * There are lots of easels around, he could probably afford to lose one. Okay, I'm going to try to take that easel over there apart. You can put them back together, right? Oh yes, it's no problem at all. Okay. * Cara pulls out a used sheet of paper that still has some blank space on it, and gets to work on drawing the easel in it's component pieces. * Cara concentrates. * The magic builds, and then releases, and the easel falls apart. It looks quite different in some places, especially around the joints. All the nails, for instance, are nothing but heads, and there are no nailholes. ...oops. Huhm. Could I see that drawing? * Cara hands Alan the drawing. Sometimes...well, usually, I end up changing something that I didn't intend to with the pictures. Marta said it would happen, I guess because my pictures can't be perfect. * Alan examines the drawing, and the easel, and then begins pointing out the mistakes. At first, it's just the major ones, like the nails, and the curve of the joins, but then it turns to smaller things, like the position of a knot in the wood and the flow of the grain. Wow, you've got great attention to detail. O_O My father always used to say that devils were in the details. * Cara nods. You're pretty good, but you could be a lot better. You just need lots of practice. And you need to get a better eye for detail. Yeah, I guess I do. ^_^; Do...do you think you could help me? If you wouldn't mind learning from me... * Alan blushes a little. No, I'd love to! Well... * Alan pulls out a chair from the table. Have a seat, and tell me a story. [Session End]
