1 What Clan Are You Part Of

As normal. Clan increases one ring, one skill, and sets status.

2 What kind of upbringing did you have?

This can be your family or vassal family, if appropriate, or your region, or any other origin that's appropriate. This should increase one ring, two skills, set glory, and set koku.

3 What is your school?

As normal. This should increase two rings and give you a selection of skills to choose several from.

4 How do you stand out within your school?

as normal. Increases one ring of your choice.

5 How do you stand out that got you one of your clan's coveted spots at the Rainbow Games?

Choose one skill and add 3 ranks. If this takes it above 3, redistribute extra ranks as standard. This skill must be one with an event at the Rainbow games, as discussed with ND

6 What do you long for, in both short and long term?

Important for plot reasons and evil GM plans. No mechanics right this moment.

7 What is your character's relationship with their clan?

Instead of +5 Glory, add 1 rank in a skill your school or another family from your clan teaches, that you have 0 ranks in. The other option is +1 to any skill you have 0 ranks in, but a complicated history with the clan.

8 What do you think about bushido?

As normal. +10 Honor or +1 to one skill out of Labor, Medicine, Seafaring, Skullduggery, or Survival.

9 What is your character’s greatest accomplishment so far?

As normal. Choose Distinction.

10 What holds your character back the most in life?

As normal. Choose Adversity.

11 What activity most makes your character feel at peace?

As normal. Choose Passion.

12 What concern, fear, or foible troubles your character the most?

As normal. Choose Anxiety.

13 Who has your character learned the most from during their life?

As normal. Plot hook and get Either Advantage or a Skill Increase and a Disadvantage.

14 What do people notice first upon encountering your character?

As normal. Sets up characteristic that helps them stand out. Also, gain one personal fashion statement. No mechanics.

15 How does your character react to stressful situations?

As normal. Default tells for when the character is getting stressed out to help with unmasking in the moment. No mechanics.

16 What are your character’s preexisting relationships with other clans, families, organizations, and traditions?

As normal. Gain an item up-to rarity 7 and set some narrative hooks for the start.

The important part for this purpose is

  1. Your relationship/feelings on the other PC clans (Right now, Lion, Crane, Scorpion, Crab, Dragon)
  2. At least one clan that you don't get along with, just rubs you the wrong way, or is just dumb.

The reasoning behind this is more important than the specific feelings, generally.

17 How would your character’s parents describe them?

As normal. Gain a rank in a skill you have 0 ranks in.

18 What legacy have your ancestors left you?

For characters who practice Blood Offering, this will usually be their single known Invocation. They may forego this to take what everyone else will get: one relic from the past, of sentimental but otherwise unknown value.

19 What haunts your nightmares?

Your greatest nightmare, your recurring nightmares, everything that makes you wake up in a cold sweat, or a scream, or unsure that you've even woken up. These are not grand like your anxiety, dreams are not so clear cut as a disadvantage. Don't put something here that you personally cannot handle.

20 What dreams leave you disappointed and sad when you wake because they're just a dream?
