Bayushi Violator School

Benefit: +1 Awareness

Skills: Etiquette, Iaijutsu(Assessment), Kenjutsu, Sincerity, Games:Sadane, Stealth, Any One Skill

Honor: 2.5

Outfit: Light Armor, Sturdy Clothing, Court Clothing, Daisho, any 1 weapon, Traveling Pack, Vial of Katsu’s Secret, 5 koku.

Techniques:

Rank 1: Strike First

You add your rank in Games: Sadane to your Initiative and Iaijutsu rolls. You gain +5 Armor TN against opponents with lower initiative, or who strike first in a duel.

Rank 2: Faster, Bayushi, Kill, Kill!

In a duel, if the result is a karmic strike, it is treated as your win instead. When you delay your turn during a skirmish, you may interrupt an opponent’s turn. If you do, any attacks you make require two additional raises to hit.

Rank 3: Strike Hard

The Bayushi Violator strikes at their opponent’s weakest points. Usually, this is the emotions. As a complex action, you may deliver an incredibly sick burn to a target, in court or on the battlefield. Make an opposed roll of Games:Sadane/Awareness versus Etiquette/Willpower. If you succeed, the target will either attack you or challenge you to a duel, depending on their inclinations and abilities. If you make five raises on the roll, they will challenge you to a duel to the death, or drop everything, go into full attack, and attempt to murder you immediately.

Rank 4: The Technique With No Name

You may attack as a simple action with samurai and ninja weapons.

Rank 5: No Mercy

When attacking a surprised enemy, or when striking first in a duel, increase your number of kept damage dice by your void ring. You may spend a void point once per skirmish to get this bonus against an opponent with lower initiative (even if you have delayed).

New Path: Katsu’s Heirs

Replaces: Bayushi Violator rank 3

Technique: A Mockery of a Technique

An older technique, originally taught by Bayushi Katsu himself, to his chosen heirs, teaches enough knowledge of every significant fighting style in the empire to brutally mock them, forcing someone to face off against a twisted mirror image of their own techniques and tripping them on their own pride.

As a free action once per round, or once upon entering the Assessment phase of a duel, you may spend a void point and target an opponent and a Bushi school technique the target knows. Make an opposed roll of Games:Sadane/Awareness against the target’s Etiquette/Willpower. The target may apply the bonus from Balance or Clear Thinker, if possessed, or any similar ability. You must take one raise on this roll per rank of the technique you are targeting. If you succeed, all of the technique’s effects are negated for the duration of the skirmish or duel.
