One of the Free Jinn, Tarek was not present for the initial bargain forged by the protagonists, but did ratify it.

As a Jinn of Windless Air, Tarek is extremely adept socially, and looks forward to experiencing a great many things this winter as he attempts to determine what contest he will sponsor (and offer himself up as a prize) in for the Great Tournament.

He has agreed to a casual game of letters with Shosuro Shinju

First Impressions

From behind the curtain, escorted by half a dozen Seppun guardsmen, steps a tall, willowy man with long, flowing hair of an eye-searing yellow hue. He's dressed in a high quality kimono, edged in imperial colors, though currently without mon or much in the way of decoration.
